4-Alarm Fire Burns In Colmar

A major fire erupted amid dangerously dry conditions in Montgomery County Tuesday afternoon.

COLMAR, PA — A major fire broke out at a warehouse amid drought conditions in Montgomery County late Tuesday morning, leading to authorities ringing four alarms.

The incident began at around 11 a.m. at Dorman Products, in the Colmar section of Hatfield Township, on the 3400 block of E. Walnut Street.

Drivers are urged to avoid the general area.

Dorman Products is an auto body parts supplier with a large warehouse, where the fire had spread, according to authorities. All employees were evacuated.

It's not yet clear how the blaze started.

Responders called a "mayday," indicating a life-threatening emergency requiring further assistance, shortly after 1 p.m.

Crews from fire companies around the region have responded, and hazmat crews have also been called to the scene.

"Thank you to the firefighters from 30 different departments who have come to Hatfield Township to battle the blaze at Dorman Products," State Rep. Steve Malagari shared in a statement. "Please avoid the area for your safety and theirs."

North Penn Goodwill is providing assistance to first responders and employees.
