Authorities arrest stolen vehicle suspect after chase through Gateway Cities

Police in Bell Gardens pursued a driver Friday who was suspected of stealing a vehicle in the Los Angeles area.

The vehicle was believed to be a gray 2015 Hyundai Sonata stolen out of the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division.

Video from Sky5 showed the car driving erratically through residential neighborhoods in Inglewood with its front bumper hanging off.

Around 4:40 p.m., the car pulled over near the intersection of North Gay and East 66th streets in Inglewood.

After stopping, the driver and passenger exited, running on foot toward a nearby property. The passenger, however, decided to turn around before entering the property and was soon detained by officers.

The driver continued into the corner residence property but police quickly found and detained them as well.

Police did not immediately confirm the arrests or whether the original crime was an alleged vehicle theft.
