Wyoming Seminary announces fall MVPs in various sports
Ten Wyoming Seminary athletes were honored with the school’s Most Valuable
Player Award at a recent ceremony at the school.
Athletic Director Gary J. Vanderburg presented the awards to:
Rob Isaacs, Kingston, boys cross country.
Anna Lloyd, Dallas, girls cross country.
Molly Conway, Forty Fort, field hockey.
Ashley Feldman, Shavertown, field hockey.
David Myers, Wilkes-Barre, football.
Michael Taggart, Victor, N.Y. football.
Scott Wells, Denver, Pa., golf.
Melissa Sviatko, West Pittston, girls tennis.
Mike Faneck, Shavertown, boys soccer.
Max Roth, Kingston, boys soccer.
Old Forge, Wyoming Area to play memorial exhibition game
Old Forge and Wyoming Area high schools will meet in an exhibition
basketball game at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 23 at Old Forge High School to honor the
memory of Anthony D. Marseco. Game ceremonies will take place at 7:15 p.m. The
game is co-sponsored by the Old Forge Boys Roundball Club and Old Forge High
School.
Marseco, a 1992 graduate of Old Forge High School, died in 1995.
In his senior season, the basketball team won a District 2 title, advanced
to the Eastern semifinals of the PIAA state tournament and won a school record
In baseball, he and his teammates won Lackawanna County’s only state
baseball championship and compiled a 20-1 record.
King’s Dickerson named MAC Freedom player of the week
King’s College basketball standout Corey Dickerson has been named the
Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom League player of the week.
A 6-foot junior guard, Dickerson was led King’s to a 2-0 week as the
Monarchs improved to 6-2. Dickerson scored 31 points to power King’s to a
scored 28 points 103-79 victory against College Misericordia on Saturday.

Pocono Pirates Squirt Youth Hockey team improves record
The Pocono Pirates Squirt Youth Hockey team, improved to 9-2-3 by beating
Binghamton 9-0 on Saturday and tying Cortland on Sunday.
Against Binghamton, John Ficco of Stroudsburg scored four goals, John
Negent of Clarks Summit scored twice and Ken Suchoski of Wilkes-Barre had a
goal and two assists. The Pirates also got goals from Paupak’s Max Van Gorder
and Old Forge’s Angelo Genell. Goaltender Drew Slocum of Shavertown notched
his fifth shutout.
Against Cortland, Ken Suchoski of Wilkes-Barre scored three times and Eric
Wroblewski scored twice.
