The Wyoming Valley American Legion playoffs begin today with a pair of
games in the double-elimination tournament.
Plains will play Greater Pittston at 1 p.m. and Nanticoke faces Plymouth at
The winners will play at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Artillery Park and the losers
at 5 p.m.
Plains 16, Mountain Post 7
WRIGHT TWP. – Steve Earley had three RBI as Plains used a seven-run sixth
to dispose of Mountain Post. Steve Hovick, Steve Craig and Tom Buckler knocked
in two runs each.
Bernie Banks pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the victory.
Jody Dymond tripled and doubled with two RBI for Mountain Post, which ended
its season at 8-15.
Wilkes-Barre 4, Greater Pittston 2
EXETER – Wilkes-Barre defeated Greater Pittston in the regular-season
finale for both teams.
