Jack Grealish joins Aston Villa fans in a pub in Bruges on video call as supporters of the Man City star's old team sing his name during Champions League trip

Jack Grealish joined Aston Villa fans in a Bruges pub this week via video call during the supporters' Champions League trip. Villa have been in Belgium this week to take on Club Brugge in Europe's premier competition, but lost 1-0 on Wednesday as their perfect start to their European campaign came to an end. The goal came from a bizarre penalty call that saw Tyrone Mings pick the ball up from a goal kick, resulted in a spot kick being given and Hans Vanaken sending Emiliano Martinez the wrong way . That nonetheless didn't stop supporters enjoying their times away, as highlighted by a video circulating on social media showing one group on a video call to former Villa captain Grealish. It remains unclear how the 29-year-old, who left Villa in 2021 for Manchester City , ended up on the call, but he could be seen watching on as fans chanted his name. WARNING: Strong language
Grealish was all smiles and could be seen punching the air as fans sang: 'Take me on up to the spirit in the sky. It's where I want to go when I die. 'When I die and they lay me to rest, I'm going to go on the p*** with Jack Grealish.' It was a large group of fans who were watching on and singing, with one person holding up the phone to cheers before the chant began. Grealish spent the best part of 20 years with Villa, having joined the club at the age of six and going onto play for them until he was 25. He joined City in a £100million deal, becoming the most expensive British footballer of all time at the time, going onto win the likes of the Champions League and multiple Premier League titles. The midfielder has long been linked with an eventual return to Villa Park, with the club now in a much better position than when he left them as captain. But for now, he is a City player and missed out on his own side's Champions League tie this week due to injury. City took on Ruben Amorim's Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, losing 4-1 as they continue to struggle in the absence of Rodri. Grealish had been expected to be out injured until after the international break, missing the defeat in Lisbon. But he was named in Lee Carsley's final England squad on Thursday, causing confusion over his current availability. He has made 10 appearances so far this campaign in a stop-start season having missed out on a place in the Three Lions squad that made it to the Euro 2024 final in the summer. It remains unclear whether he will play a part in the final international break of the year, which begins after this weekend's fixtures.
