Margaret (Farrell) Collins, 95, of West Ross Street, formerly of South
River Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at the Heritage House, where she had
been a guest for the past week. Born April 16, 1904, in Sugar Notch, she was a
daughter of the late Hon. and Mrs. Thomas F. Farrell. She graduated from
Marywood Seminary and Trinity College, Washington, D.C. Before her marriage,
she taught in the West Wyoming School District. She was preceded in death by
her husband, John H. Collins, Esq.; son, John C.; sisters, Mary C. Giering and
Anne Giering; and brothers, Thomas, Esq., Michael, Esq., and Joseph, Esq.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Barry, Hempstead, N.Y.; Louise McCloskey,
McLean, Va.; and Margaret Pererra, Orlando, Fla.; son, Michael J., Esq., with
whom she resided for several years; 14 grandchildren and sixteen
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the
McLaughlin Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass
of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate
Conception. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
