Sunshine today, rain and thunderstorms possible for most of the week

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts — the chance for some rain and thunderstorms is going to stick around for the rest of the week.
The National Weather Service indicated that it was 62 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. It was a sunny morning for the Wyoming Valley with little to now cloud cover.
Sunshine will be the trend for the day, with a high climbing to the lower 80s. Clouds will move in tonight, along with a slight chance of showers tonight. The low will drop to the lower 60s.
That chance for showers will carry on until about 9 a.m. — showers and thunderstorms will be likely after 9 a.m. There is currently a 60 percent chance of rain, with between a quarter and half an inch of rain possible. Tuesday’s high will be in the lower 80s.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to be likely on Tuesday night. There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation, with between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain possible. Tuesday night’s low will be in the lower 60s.
There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday — otherwise, mostly sunny skies are expected to return. The high will reach about 80 degrees. The chance for rain will continue after 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, with a low in the upper 50s.
