Sunny today, heavy rain and storms possible tomorrow

While it’s shaping up to be a sunny day in the Wyoming Valley, heavy rain could be on its way.
The National Weather Service indicated that it was 61 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. Overcast skies welcomed morning commuters, with the sunshine able to peak through intermittently.
The Wyoming Valley could see some potentially heavy rainfall on Thursday. According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, a strong and moist cold front will move through the area, bringing with it showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. Some storms may contain gusty winds and brief localized heavy rainfall.
No watches or warnings have been issued as of this morning.
The forecast
Cloudy skies will gradually give way to sunny skies today, with a high in the mid to upper 70s. Clouds will move back into the region tonight, with a low in the mid 60s.
There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms up until 2 p.m. — afterward, showers and thunderstorms will become likely. Some thunderstorms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain, and up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible. Thursday’s high will be near 80 degrees.
There will be a chance of showers before 11 p.m. on Thursday night — otherwise, mostly cloudy skies are expected. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible, and Thursday night’s low will be in the mid to upper 50s.
Sunny skies will return to the Wyoming Valley on Friday, with a high near 70 degrees. Partly cloudy skies will follow on Friday night, with a low in the lower 50s.
