Suspect dead after officer-involved shooting at NW Austin apartment complex

A suspect is dead following an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning at an apartment complex in northwest Austin, authorities said.

Officers responded to a call reporting an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon at the MAA Canyon Creek apartments, located at9501 Ranch Rd 620 N, according to the Austin Police Department. One suspect was killed during the incident. No officers were injured.

A police spokesperson is en route to establish a media staging area for an upcoming press briefing, and CBS Austin has a crew on scene.

Law enforcement officials are asking residents to avoid the area due to street closures and ongoing police activity.
