Dusting of snow in forecast for parts of N.J. with wind chills in 20s

Cold conditions will be the major weather story in New Jersey the next two days with a chilly Monday night and frigid Tuesday with a chance for a dusting of snow for the northwestern counties.

Temps will be near normal on Monday though winds of 10 to 15 mph will start to gust to about 25 to 30 mph by late morning, the National Weather Service says.

High temperatures will range from the mid 40s to low 50s around late morning and early afternoon before the mercury dips through the afternoon under sunny skies.

A very cold night awaits with temps in the 20s and the wind making it feel about 5 to 10 degrees cooler, the weather service said in its morning forecast discussion.

A light dusting of snow is possible in northwestern New Jersey, but no accumulation is expected.

Tuesday will be sunny and chilly. Temperatures will range from the mid 30s to low 40s, but wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph will keep wind chill values in the 20s, according to the National Weather Service. Again, there will be a slight chance of snow showers in far northwest areas of New Jersey.

Conditions remain cold Tuesday night with lows falling into the low to mid 20s and winds making it feel even chillier.

Wednesday will be another day with below normal temps. Highs will be mostly in the upper 30s before we warm into the low 50s on what should be another dry day on Thursday.

The next chance of rain will be on Friday when temperatures climb back into the low 50s.

Late November temperatures generally range from the low 30s to about 50 in New Jersey.

More than an inch of rain fell across parts of the state on Sunday, according to NJweather.org , the state climatologist’s office website. Parsippany picked up about 1.6 inches, while 1.39 inches fell in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards and 1.24 dropped on Walpack.

A coastal flood advisory remains in effect for Monmouth and Ocean counties until noon on Monday.
