Friday snow will be a thin band of accumulation, see if you are in the snow

It’s still going to snow tomorrow in a stripe across central Lower Michigan. Here are just the very slight tweaks to the snow forecast. I’d say the only two tweaks are maybe one inch less snow on the top end and the stripe of snow may be 10 miles narrower. Yesterday it looked like four inches would be the top end. I’d say it’s a top amount of three inches now. Here’s the radar forecast from early Friday morning to early Saturday morning. We’ve also had a slight change from yesterday’s idea in that a second spurt of snow is going to catch up to Friday’s snow. Instead of feeling like two separate snows over central Michigan it will feel like a short lull in the same snow. Most all of us will start with rain Friday morning. The warm temperatures of this Thursday will keep the temperatures up overnight and too warm for snow early Friday. Then during the late morning and early afternoon the rain will change to wet snow for Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Mount Pleasant, Alma and the northern Grand Rapids area. Snow will continue to fall until early evening. After a lull in the snow we will have periods of rain and snow Friday night. Radar forecast from 7 a.m. model run for 6 a.m. Friday to 7:00 a.m. Saturday.NOAA During all of this snow temperatures will be just borderline for accumulation versus melting. This means road conditions in the snow area won’t get super terrible. We could see some slush on roads by mid-afternoon. Here is the total snowfall at the top end. There will probably be some melting by one inch. Total snowfall forecast through Saturday morning.NOAA I’d call it a one inch to three inch snow for the Grand Rapids area, Alma, Owosso, Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Midland, Caro and Lapeer. The cities along I-94 won’t have any accumulation, but could see occasional wet snow. North of the highest accumulations should be an inch or so of snow. It’s not a big snowstorm. It’s going to mostly be a big, wet flakes type of snow.
