Rain, snow and sleet to impact the Wyoming Valley today and into tonight

It looks like the Wyoming Valley is set to receive its second helping of winter weather, courtesy of Old Man Winter.
The National Weather Service is set to issue a winter weather advisory for Luzerne and Lackawanna counties from 2 p.m. today until 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
A weak wave of low pressure, along with moisture streaming north over a shallow layer of below-freezing air, will create periods of snow, sleet and freezing rain today and into tonight. That wintry mix could result in 1 inch of snow and a light coating of ice.
A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.
The forecast
The National Weather Service indicated that it was 27 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Fair skies greeted morning commuters, with the sunshine peeking through massive breaks in the clouds.
Snow will begin to fall after 1 p.m. today, with rain mixing in after 4 p.m. A 100 percent chance of precipitation is predicted, and less than a half an inch of snow is expected. Today’s high will be in the upper 30s.
Rain and sleet will continue to fall into tonight, with the precipitation becoming entirely rain after 1 a.m. There will be a 100 percent chance of precipitation, with less than a half an inch of sleet accumulation possible. Tonight’s low will be in the mid 30s.
There will be a 50 percent chance of rain and show showers before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by a chance of rain showers after 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy skies are expected otherwise, with a high in the upper 40s. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Isolated showers will stick around before 9 p.m. on Wednesday night — otherwise, mostly cloudy skies will gradually become mostly clear on Wednesday night. The low will be near 30 degrees.
Mostly sunny skies will return to the Wyoming Valley on Thursday, with a high in the lower 40s. Mostly cloudy skies will follow on Thursday night, with a low in the upper 20s.
